Bio

Sara received her Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from Valdosta State University in 1991. She did her internship at Mayo Clinic of Jacksonville, Florida in 1991.

Sara’s clinical experiences include: Providing services to individuals from infancy to age 80+, evaluating and treating individuals with a variety of disorders. This includes the following: Feeding and Swallowing disorders, Language Disorders, Articulation and Phonological disorders, Apraxia of Speech, Fluency disorders, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Voice Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Hearing Impairments, Cerebral Palsy, Prematurity, Auditory Processing Disorder, Aphasia, Attention Deficit Disorder/ Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Craniofacial Anomalies, and a variety of other genetic disorders.

Sara has over 15 years of experience working with Babies Can’t Wait, the Georgia Early Intervention Program for infants and toddlers. She focuses on children with neurological issues, and working with feeding/ swallowing difficulties. Her experience includes working with bottle feeding, spoon feeding, transition difficulties, chewing difficulties, gagging/choking and picky eaters. She has extensive experience working with patients from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), UF Health of Gainesville, FL, and South GA Medical Center of Valdosta, GA.

Sara is licensed by the Georgia Board of Speech Language Pathology & Audiology and has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association. She was certified in Beckman Oral Motor Assessment and Intervention. She also received specialized training in the use of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).

Sara has 2 adult children, Keith, who works as a Speech Language Pathologist/Regional Director of Rehab in Atlanta, and Leslie, who manages the family tire company in Quitman, GA. Her greatest joys are her family, watching football, hiking falls, and boating on a lake or ocean.
